Total Quality Manager Main Focus:

This position provides organization, planning and direction for all quality system management aspects and oversees the proper management, operation, and maintenance of the QC Laboratory.


  • The position manages the quality control technicians.
  • This position coordinates the workforce in preparing suitable systems for quality management at the facility level in compliance with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • This position ensures quality control and quality assurance for the manufacturing of products in a reliable manner consistent with corporate objectives.
  • This position is responsible for the Quality Module in SAP.


  • Provides leadership and management skills to ensure quality control employees have the re-sources, training and direction to perform well. 
  • Plans, coordinates, and directs quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001) to ensure products and services that meet established standards. 
  • Develops and analyzes statistical data and specifications to determine present standards of performance and establish quality expectations for the production facility.
  • Maintains lab operating procedures under Document Control Requirements. 
  • Reports status of quality systems to management. 
  • Formulates quality objective and coordinates objectives with other managers of the plant to maximize product and service quality and minimize cost and to maintain management system registration. 
  • Manages all duties related to the instrumentation stationed in the lab. Arranges third party maintenance as required.
  • Directs workers engaged in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure continu-ous control over materials, testing facilities, and products; plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product service quality.
  • Manages the customer complaint process, coordinates investigations, assigns tasks for correc-tive action and develops and issues replies to customers.
  • Coordinates customer and special sample preparation and recordkeeping. 
  • Resolves SAP inventory discrepancies. 
  • Participates in the products and customer specification processes.
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.  Reviews all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other activities as assigned by the Site Manager. 


  • Professional Training:  Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Masters in Chemistry/MBA preferred
  • Professional experience:  10 years experience in analytical Chemistry Lab Operations and Qual-ity Management Experience, SAP experience preferred
  • Certifications required: None but ASQC Certified Quality Auditor preferred
  • Ability to conduct statistical analysis related to production environment
  • Good communication and personnel management skills
  • Ability to prepare and deliver clear presentations on the company’s quality management activi-ties to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Ability to analyze data using basic to intermediate statistical concepts and quality management tools.
  • Ability to manage relations with personnel including production workers, customer representa-tives, and regulatory officials
  • Ability to control expenses
  • Ability to work in standard office setting including computer operations and light lifting, ability to work in laboratory settings including to maneuver in the area of the lab and certain plant area, to manipulate various instruments for the purposes of inspection or adjustment and for analysis of goods.
